DSEK suspends 11 teachers for skipping training programme

Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) G N Itoo on Saturday issued orders for suspension of 11 teachers who were found absent in a training programme which concluded at State Institute of Education (SIE) here today.

Officials said the directorate in collaboration with a non government organization had organised a two-day training programme for teachers from Friday.

An official said the programme was organised to train teachers for Kindergarten (KG) schools as department has decided to set up KG schools this year. “But the teachers didn’t participate in the training session and had to face the department action,” he said.

DSEK confirmed the suspension of 11 teachers for not attending the training programme. “I paid a surprise visit to SIE to inspect the training programme and participation of teachers. Some teachers were absent and were put them under suspension,” he said.

The teachers who were suspended belonged to Srinagar, Budgam, Kupwara, Shopian and Anantnag districts.

The government had earlier announced that 14 KG schools will be established in the State with seven each in Jammu and Srinagar. For this the department has organized series of training programmes for teachers to be deputed in KG schools.

Later, the director education Kashmir inaugurated Adhar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) at the directorate here.  “This AEBAS is laced with latest technological interventions and will help in bringing transparency in attendance system of stationed officials as well as those deputed in field,” Itoo said, adding that the new attendance system will work through a mobile application.

“The same system will be replicated in schools and other officers so that punctuality of officials is maintained at all levels,” he said.
