Family members of Central jail inmates stage protest

Scores of family members of Central jail inmates on Tuesday staged protest to press for their demand to seek status of their condition.

The family members assembled at Press Enclave and stageddemonstrations. “I went to meet my husband recently. Ironically, i and otherswere disallowed saying ‘our family members don’t want to meet us.’  We are kept in dark about their well being.We want to know condition of our loved ones,” said Asima, wife of one theinmates.

   

The protesting family members of the inmates demanded thatFIR lodged against their kin following Central Jail violence should bewithdrawn. They also decried reports about shifting of inmates to other jailsoutside Kashmir.

“I have lone son who is lodged in the Central jail from lasttwo years.  Me and my daughter cannottravel outside to meet  We have no one toearn and in such a condition how will I go to meet my son,’ said an aged woman. 

To mention, on April 5, intense clashes broke out inside theCentral Jail after the prisoners protested against construction of the newbarracks.
