Finally, TRC grade separator to be thrown open this month

After years of delay in completing its construction, authorities are all set to throw open the grade seperator at Tourist Reception Centre here this month. 

According to officials of Jammu and Kashmir EconomicReconstruction Agency, over 95 percent work on the grade separator has beencompleted. 

   

“Now some minor works are pending which will be completedwithin a week, “said an executive of JKERA. He said that the final decision ondate of opening of this mini flyover this month will be taken by the stateadministration.

Chief executive officer, JKERA, Dr Raghav Langer said “dueto model code of conduct being in place I cannot comment on exact date ofopening this grade separator for traffic. All I can say at this moment is thatmajor portion of work has been completed.”

CEO said that the project will be completed within thestipulated deadline fixed by the government.

To mention that the state government has fixed May 2019 asthe deadline for this project.

Earlier this project missed four deadlines set by thegovernment. The project executed by JKERA, as per officials was envisioned in2009 as a solution for traffic mess in the city centre.

The total project cost of TRC Mini Flyover (Grade Separator)is Rs 64 crores. The foundation stone for the grade separator was laid byformer chief minister late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed in December 2015 and was to becompleted by December 2016. However, the law and order situation in 2016 delaycompletion of the project.
