Governor launches state-of-the-art Musical Fountain at SKICC

Governor Satya Pal Malik launched Light and Sound show with Laser Water Fountain in Dal Lake near SKICC here on Wednesday evening. 

On the occasion, a 45-minute display of the show waswitnessed by Governor and other dignitaries.

   

Dedicating this Musical Fountain to the public, Governorobserved that this state-of-the-art musical fountain will certainly add anotherattraction to the tourist map of the Kashmir Valley. Regretting that theproject was completed several months ago but had not been made available to thetourists and the general public on a regular basis, Governor expressed hopethat in future such infrastructure will be opened immediately for the use ofpublic.

“There is need to introduce more such amusements forthe people of Srinagar. Politicians have not given anything to children ofSrinagar city. There is no hustle and bustle post evening. There are hardly anyavenues of entertainment for people. But I want to assure you that we want toreturn the old golden days in Kashmir,” Governor said.

“Our aim is to provide all the facilities to children inKashmir which their counterparts in other part of the country enjoy,” he saidadding that “we won’t leave any stone unturned to ensure that children inKashmir are not kept bereft of any such amusements,” he said.

Governor directed Navin Choudhary, Principal SecretaryTourism Department to make entry free for children below 12 years anddifferently-abled people. He announced that till 15th August 2019, entry shouldbe made free for all persons who desire to view this show.

Acknowledging various initiatives recently underway by theTourism Department, Governor exuded confidence that the remaining  part of the current year will witness  huge response of tourists particularly in theKashmir valley. He also directed the Tourism Department to run a wellcoordinated campaign to ensure heavy rush of tourists in the winter months.

Giving details of the project, Choudhary informed that acost of Rs.8.00 crore  has been incurredon the project which will be operated and maintained by Director SKICC.”Everyday there will be three shows of half an hour each and a modestticket price has been decided. A separate gate for witnessing the show has beenopened for the general public alongwith the ticket booth.  The show can also be booked  by the tour operators and hoteliers  for the tourist groups,” he said.

 Choudhary furtherinformed that the Laser  and Lightshow  has been set up with latestadvanced scientific technology including Musical Control, Programme control andSynchronisation of Melody, Rhythm Volume and Frequency and its Projection onWall of Water Screen.

Choudhary also informed that similar project has beenapproved at Nigeen Lake at the cost of Rs.5.00 crore  and construction  is likely to commence  in August 2019. Governor directed for itstime bound completion. He set the deadline as December 2019 for completion andopening the project for the public and tourists.

Among others, K. Vijay Kumar,  K.K. Sharma and K. Skandan, Advisors toGovernor; B.V.R.Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary, Umang Narula, FinancialCommissioner to Governor and other senior functionaries  of the Government alongwith large number ofstakeholders from Hospitality & Protocol and Tourism Industry witnessed the event.
