Govt bans public transport in Srinagar to prevent spread of Coronavirus

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday banned alltypes of public transport including buses, mini buses, maxi cabs and autopassenger services in Srinagar district with immediate effect till furtherorders.

An official said the order was issued as a precautionarymeasure to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus disease in the summercapital which saw its first positive case last night.

   

“To mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 in Union Territoryof Jammu and Kashmir, It is hereby ordered that no Bus Service/ Mini BusService/Maxi Cab Service/Auto Passenger Service shall ply in District Srinagarwith immediate effect till further orders,” reads an order issued by RegionalTransport Officer, Kashmir.   

“Further, no public transport shall enter District Srinagarfrom the North, South, or central District of Kashmir Division,” added theorder.
