Govt starts public outreach initiative to address developmental concerns

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, chaired a public grievance redressal camp at Faqir Gujri on city outskirts here.

An official statement said the grievance redressal camp is apart of the public outreach initiative started by the district administrationin the summer capital to address developmental concerns and resolvelongstanding issues of people including population of this far-flung area.

   

Delegations of representatives of adjacent areas includingHarwan, New Theed and Dhara also attended the grievance redressal camp held forthe first time in the area.

Various issues including those concerning healthcare,education, roads, transportation, communication, sports infrastructure, irrigationand financial services were raised by the representatives of these areasseeking time-bound redressal thereof.

The DC while speaking on the occasion said most of theconcerns raised during the camp were resolvable and assured that these will beprocessed for execution in the shortest possible time.

He said timelines for their execution will be drawn and amonitoring mechanism will be put in place to ensure adherence thereto.

He assured that work on incomplete healthcare andeducational infrastructure will be taken up soon adding that additionalrequirements as raised on the occasion will also be put in place.

He said a comprehensive educational plan aimed at providingmodern education with a modern set-up will be framed and implemented ineducational institutions in the area.

Dr Shahid also assured of designating officers fromconcerned departments who will make periodical visits to this far-off area toaddress concerns of the population living here.

He announced that work on a mobile telephone tower and aplayground which have been longstanding demands of the people of the area willbe started soon adding that other genuine demands will also be taken up forprocessing in due course.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar KK Sidha who wasalso present and while speaking on the occasion said all concerns and demandsprojected during the camp were genuine and assured of their time-boundredressal.

Sidha who is also the Programme Officer Integrated ChildDevelopment Services Srinagar also assured of setting up additional Anganwaricentres and related requirements in the area.

He said this public outreach effort of the districtadministration is a beginning and assured of making it a sustained affair aimedat prompt redressal of genuine concerns of the people of this far-off area.

Assistant Commissioner Development Srinagar and seniorofficers from all line departments of the district were present on theoccasion.
