Green Srinagar: Authorities to hold plantation drive in city

The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today convened a meeting to review logistic arrangements for conducting plantation drive at selected locations in the summer capital.

He directed Forest department to ensure that plants,material, tools and staff should reach the designated locations two hoursbefore the launch of the plantation drive.

   

Authorities have already planted 40,000 saplings under theambitious Green Srinagar Initiative which was launched on March 15 this year.The Green Srinagar initiative aims to make Srinagar green in the truest senseinvolving meaningful and smart plantation while bringing all plantationactivities in the district under a single organized platform. It also aims togather and keep track of data of saplings planted in the district in order toensure their post-plantation maintenance to get the desired results

Earlier Divisional Commissioner reviewed arrangements forintensive sanitation works to be carried out at G.B. Pant hospital this weekend.

Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) was directed to keepdedicated and adequate manpower ready with equipment, anti-infectants forintensive sanitation works in and around the G.B. Pant hospital. PDD and PHEwill ensure uninterrupted electricity and water in the hospital on the weekend.

The Police Department will deploy adequate personnel besidesTraffic department will ensure hassle-free movement of vehicles at the venues.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar was asked to deploy Magistratesat the locations and also monitor the proper arrangements should be done byconcerned departments.

The Divisional Commissioner stressed to the concernedofficers to maintain close coordination among each other for the hassle-freeconduct of two events in the capital city on this weekend.
