Residents of Hassi Bhat locality of Rainawari here today expressed resentment over inordinate delay in road widening in the area.
A delegation from the area led by GN Wadoo said severalhouses and shops were many years ago proposed to be acquired and demolished topave way for road widening from Hassi Bhat mohalla to Naidyar in Rainawari areaby Circular Road Division of R&B department.
“Ironically, despite passing of several years, noaction has been taken so far. As the road is narrow and the traffic movement ishigh, jamming has become a regular feature causing inconvenience to commutersespecially school going children and employees,” Wadoo said.
“The residents and the house owners whose structurescome under the proposed road widening had many times approached the concernedauthorities to resolve the problem. The houses proposed for demolition areunsafe and pose threat to people,” the locals said.
The residents as well as the house owners have urged theauthorities to acquire these structures and widen the road. They appealedDeputy Commissioner Srinagar to look into the matter.
