High Court quashes PSA detention of Srinagar man

J&K High Court has quashed detention of a person from here who was booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) in September 2019.

While disposing of the petition, the Court directed the authorities including Jail Superintendent to release Fayaz Ahmad Zargar of Jamia Masjid here from preventive custody provided he was not required in any other case.

Meanwhile the Court dismissed six habeas corpse petitions as “infructuous” after government informed the Court that the detention of the persons under the PSA has been revoked.

A bench of Justice Tashi Rabstan dismissed the petitions of Abdul Ahad Rather, Adil Ahmad Mir, Athar Mohiud din Rather, Ghulam Mohammad Hubbi, Ghulam Muhammad Malla and Muhammad Iqbal Gorsi. These detainees from different districts had petitioned the Court against their PSA detention.
