High Court quashes PSA detention of Srinagar man

J&K High Court has quashed detention of a person from here who was booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) in September 2019.

While disposing of the petition, the Court directed theauthorities including Jail Superintendent to release Fayaz Ahmad Zargar ofJamia Masjid here from preventive custody provided he was not required in any othercase.

   

Meanwhile the Courtdismissed six habeas corpse petitions as “infructuous” after governmentinformed the Court that the detention of the persons under the PSA has beenrevoked.

A bench of Justice TashiRabstan dismissed the petitions of Abdul Ahad Rather, Adil Ahmad Mir, AtharMohiud din Rather, Ghulam Mohammad Hubbi, Ghulam Muhammad Malla and MuhammadIqbal Gorsi. These detainees from different districts had petitioned the Courtagainst their PSA detention.
