In connection with the commencement of Hafta-e-Shahadat, recitation of Quran in memory of Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone, and the martyrs of Hawal massacre was held in various areas today.
The main function was held at Jamia Masjid Srinagar.Clerics, Imams, Islamic scholars, prominent citizens and locals from variousareas of Srinagar participated in the function.
Soon after Quranic recitation, a Valley-wide Husn-e-Qiratcompetition was organised by the Anjunam-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid which waspresided over by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
In the Husn-e-Qirat program, Qaris from scores of education Institutions andDarul Ulooms from across Kashmir participated. The first position was bagged byQari Gazi Abu Bakar, of Darul Uloom Bilaliya, second position was bagged byQari Talib Hussain of Darul Uloom Dawoodiya Srinagar, third by Qari Mushtaq UlIslam of Markaz Al Maarif Bathendi Jammu, and fourth by Qari Ajaz Ahmad Bhat ofAnwar uloom Lolab respectively.
Mirwaiz, who presided over the function, distributed prizesamong the winners while as the duties of jury were performed by Qari Inayat Ullah Qasimi, Qari MuhammadIshtiyaq, and Qari Aijaz Ahmad Mir. The function was moderated by Moulana M.SRehman Shams.
Prominent Islamic Scholars that include Molana Ahmad SayedNaqashbandi, Moulana Inayatullah, Mufti Ghulam Rasool Samoon, Muhammad YasinShah and General Secretary of Auqaf Altaf Ahmed, were also present on theoccasion.
Meanwhile Quran Khawani to pay tributes Shaheed-e-Milat,Shaheed-e-Hurriyat and matrys of Hawal massacre was also held at APHC headquarters Rajbagh Srinagar.
