In 4 months, SKIMS records 63 COVID deaths

At least 63 patients have died of COVID19 at SKIMS here till mid July while average duration of admission of the corona patients at the institute has been eight days during the period.

The information has been revealed by the hospital authorities in response to application filed by rights activist and Secretary Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Forum MM Shuja, under RTI Act.

   

“Average duration of admission of COVID19 patients from 15 March 2020 to 15 July 2020 has been eight days,” reads the RTI reply. It says 620 COVID patients were admitted to the hospital during the period, while 445 patients were discharged after recovering from the disease.

The official data shows that 63 COVID19 patients have died during the four months. While the hospital has not been sanctioned separate budget to meet COVID19 expenditure, Rs 25 lakh stands released to the institute under SDRF and Rs 50 lakh under MP fund for treating of corona patients.
