Kashmir University notifies dates for PG entrance exams

University of Kashmir (KU) on Tuesday formally notified dates to conduct entrance exam for admission to different post graduation (PG) courses.

As per the notification issued by Directorate of admissions and competitive examination, the tests will commence from September 9 and culminate on September 27.

   

Earlier, the KU administration had proposed to conduct the admission process on the basis of marks secured by the students in qualifying exams. However, the proposal was not approved by the University Council headed by Lieutenant Governor (LG), who is also the Chancellor of the varsity.

As per the notification, the candidates who have already applied for the PG entrance can download their admit cards from the University websites: www.kashmiruniversity.net or www.kashmiruniversity.ac.in, from September 03.

“However, the M P Ed aspirants can download their admit cards after the conduct of Physical Efficiency Test (PET) by department of Physical Education. The notification regarding the same will be issued separately,” the notification reads.

It states that as a precaution against COVID19, the candidates must reach entrance test centre an hour before the commencement of the exams and they should enter the premises of the examination hall at least 15 minutes before start of the test.

“The candidates are advised to follow distancing while entering the examination centre. The Proctoral wing of the University is authorized to fine such candidates who don’t follow the COVID19 SOPs,” reads the notification.

The varsity administration has also advised the candidates to disburse after examination is over and leave the centre immediately.

“A candidate shall be admitted to examination hall only on production of admit card downloaded from Kashmir University website, and valid photo identity card,” it reads.

The candidates have been barred to carry electronic devices like mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, calculators, electronic watches in the examination hall.

“No arrangements for depositing the same shall be available in the examination hall. Possession of any such gadget shall invite action under rules,” the notification reads, adding that candidates must not carry any material related to the examination with them and possession of any such material shall invite punitive action.

The aspirants have been asked to carry only admit card, personal transparent water bottle, pens or pencil, hand sanitizer (small size), mask and gloves.

Meanwhile, in view of COVID19 and to avoid social gathering, the administration has decided to set-up exam centers in north and south Kashmir districts besides main campus of the University.

The Registrar KU, Nisar Ahmad Mir said they have decided to set-up an exam centre in Women’s College Anantnag and Government Degree College (GDC) Pampore, for south Kashmir students.

“The exam centres will also be setup in GDC Kupwara and north Campus of KU at Delina for students of north Kashmir,” he said.

He said these centres will be designated for convenience of the students so that they need not to travel to main campus to appear in the exam.

“In central Kashmir, we will have one exam centre in Bemina Degree College and the main campus of the University,” he said.
