KU keeps online admission process open for PG courses

Authorities at Kashmir University (KU) have decided to keep link for submission of online application forms and deposition of fee for PG entrance exams open till further orders.

The link will also remain available for students aspiring tosubmit application forms for their entrance for 5-year BA-LLB programme.

   

The decision has been taken in view of the ongoing lockdownto fight the coronavirus pandemic. “In respect of the candidates applying underany reserved category, they shall have to deposit hard copy of theirapplication forms along with all requisite documents as and when the notice inthis regard is issued by the University,” reads a notice issued by Coordinator,Directorate of admission and competitive examination, Kashmir University.

The students have been advised to visit the official websiteof Kashmir University for further updates.

Meanwhile, the varsity has also announced other measures andprecautions to fight the spread of novel Coronavirus.

The measures have been taken to enable the varsityadministration to continue the academic activities after the lockdown islifted.

A meeting in this regard was convened on Monday by ViceChancellor (VC) KU, Prof Talat Ahmad and was attended by senior functionaries.

“The VC ordered forprocurement of pen drives in bulk which will be distributed among the studentsonce the University re-opens. He also issued directions to the concernedsection to procure hand sanitizers and masks in bulk for the use of students,scholars, teachers and other officials of the University to ensure safety ofeveryone,” an official said.

Prof Ahmad has also directed the Directorate of life-longlearning, entrusted with providing skill based education, to put in efforts tomake its own masks.

“It was decided in the meeting that department of Chemistrywill be entrusted to make its own hand sanitizers,” the official said.

The varsity has also kept Rs 10 lakh at the disposal of KU’shealth centre for procurement of life saving drugs, masks, hand sanitizers andmedicines.

The Vice Chancellor has also taken a review of the stepstaken to compensate the learning in the University and stressed that studentsbe provided with the online lessons through e-learning mode and virtual classrooms to avoid academic losses.

“The IT&SS Directorate was asked to make regular use ofSMS service and University website for hosting advisories so that all studentsboth boarders and non-boarders can be approached through e.mail, WhatsApp, SMS,telephone,” the official said.
