KU VC flags off ‘mobile awareness’ programme on COVID19

Vice Chancellor (VC) Kashmir University Prof Talat Ahmad on Saturday flagged off a week-long awareness cum essential kit distribution program, related to safety against the COVID-19.

The programme organised by the Department of Students Welfare (DSW), KU is meant for the registered orphanages and specially-abled persons of the Valley.

   

While inaugurating the program the VC emphasized the need for organizing such pivotal awareness programme in the wake of present pandemic crisis.

Appreciating the initiative by the DSW for organising such program, the VC advised the organisers to also include orphans and specially-abled students in other creative activities to keep them engaged in constructive ways while sitting at home during these tough times of COVID19.

Prof Raies A Qadri, Dean Students Welfare KU informed the campaign shall be executed in six districts of the Valley which includes Srinagar, Baramulla, Pulwama, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Shopian.

The department would create awareness along with the distribution of the necessary essential kits for the defence against COVID19.

Prof Qadri apprised that the programme shall also include experts from different essential service departments who will share important suggestions and experiences to safeguard people from the pandemic.

During the flag-off ceremony, Dr Nisar A Mir, Registrar, KU; Shahid Rasool, Media Advisor KU; Dr Ashraf Ganaie, Head Department of Endocrinology SKIMS;  Prof Showket  Ahmad Shah, Dean Education and other officials of the University were also present.
