The residents of Burzahama locality on Hazratbal outskirts here are irked by unavailability of garbage lifting facility.
The locals say that the door-to-door facility and unavailability of designated site to dispose off their garbage has taken a toll on them.
The locals residing around Burzahama-Shopribagh link road say that in the rest of localities including parts of Burzahama there is proper mechanism to lift garbage while their area is left in lurch.
“We are around 30 households on the Shopribagh side of Burzahama who are facing the issue. We don’t understand if the other areas of Burzahama locality have the proper facility of garbage management why are we left out,” Faisal Ahmed, a local said.
The locals said that lack of proper management will lead to pollution and locals will be forced to dump waste on roadsides and water bodies.
“People have already made roadies as dumping sites as they have nowhere to take the garbage. We have to walk for over 1 Km to take out the garbage on daily basis. While in other areas in Burzahama locality, there is proper facility to lift garbage,” said another local.
The residents appealed to the authorities to look into the issue so that they don’t have to suffer.
