Lockdown to be intensified in Srinagar from tomorrow: DC

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Thursdaysaid the ongoing lockdown in view of Covid-19 pandemic would be intensifiedacross the district from tomorrow.

Addressing a press conference, Choudhary said the movement ofpeople will be regulated through passes, with one pass valid only for oneperson. “The lockdown is being intensified and even inter-district movementwill be barred,” he said.

   

The DC informed that 25 zonal committees involving designatedzonal officers and locals of the particular areas  have been set-up across Srinagar to ensuresmooth delivery of services and essential supplies.

“We have distributed Srinagar into 25 zones and each zone willhave a nodal officer and his team coordinating with locals to ensure smoothdelivery of essentials and other services,” he said. 

Choudhary said a call center is also being set up today forresponding to public queries and even receiving information on contact tracingor travel history. He said 14 Red Zones with positive Covid-19 cases weredeclared in Srinagar out of which three were already sealed.
