Mayor reviews situation in Srinagar

Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Junaid Azim Mattu, today held meeting to take stock of post snowfall work mechanism from various line departments to assess situation in the summer capital.

Commissioner SMC informed the meeting that at least 3000 sanitation workers are on job since yesterday to clear snow from lanes and by lanes in the city. He said besides snow clearance drive is being taken up in hospitals, religious places, ration depots, vital roads, major markets, city centre and other important stretches.

   

It was informed that out of 256 feeders in Srinagar, 28 are under restoration. The meeting was informed that 85 permanent dewatering stations were fully functional and 32 mobile pumps were installed in low lying and vulnerable spots in Srinagar.

Chief Engineer R&B department said that all the main city roads leading to hospitals, shrines, important destinations, institutions have been cleared up .

Mattu hailed PDD for restoring power lines amid snow fall.

On essential supplies Mattu was apprised that stock of rice is available for next two and half months, LPG for 21 days, kerosene for 30 days, petrol for nine days and diesel for 18 days.

Chief Engineer PHE Iftikaar Ahmed Wani, S. E  KPDCL Mir Wali Mohammad,  S. E MED Kashmir,  S. E Hydraulic Er N. A Kakroo, S.E Drainage  Ahsaanul Haq, Joint Commissioner Works, Ishtiyaq Ahmed Shah,  Deputy Director Planning , Khursheed Ahmed Makhdoomi, Xens, AEE’s and other senior officers  including Secretary SMC, Chief Sanitation Officer and other officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation participated in the meeting.
