Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday visited residence of incarcerated chairman of JKLF Muhammad Yasin Malik at Maisuma here, to express solidarity with his family. Mirwaiz was accompanied by senior Hurriyat leader Bilal Gani Lone.
In a statement a Hurriyat (M) spokesman said that Mirwaiz met the mother and sisters of JKLF chief. “The Hurriyat leadership demanded that Malik’s wife and daughter who are based in Pakistan be granted visa to travel to Kashmir on humanitarian basis,” the spokesman said.
Expressing concern over Malik’s arrest, the Hurriyat leadership also questioned issuance of NIA summon to grandson of Hurriyat G Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, after notice to his two sons, and another notice to daughter of senior incarcerated separatist leader Shabir Ahmed Shah.
The spokesman said that policies of “intimidations can’t change the basic reality about Kashmir issue and the need to resolve”.
The spokesman said Kashmir issue was purely humanitarian and political issue and until this dispute was addressed politically, peace will remain a casualty in Kashmir and the subcontinent.
