Mudasir Amin demands reliable public transport services in city

Former vice chairman Labour Welfare Board and renowned social activist Mudasir Amin Wednesday urged authorities to provide reliable public transport services to the commuters in Srinagar.

In a statement, Amin said that various areas in Srinagarincluding Habba Kadal, Fateh Kadal and its adjacent areas lack reliable publictransport services subjecting commuters to inconvenience.

   

“Reliable public transport services are important forpassengers including private and public employees, businessmen and students.Around ninety percent commuters use public transport in Srinagar to reach theirrespective destinations. Complaints are pouring in from Habba Kadal and itsadjoining areas that public transport goes off the roads in evening,’ Aminsaid.

He said in evening, large number of commuters can be seenwaiting for passenger buses near Kashmir Hatt, Lal Chowk, Jehangir Chowk, SanatNagar, Rambagh, Jawahar Nagar, Abdullah Bridge, Sonwar, Batwara and Dalgate,Gogjibagh, Bemina and its adjacent areas.

He said that commutes from Darbagh, Harvan, Danihama, MuftiBagh, Barji, Bat Mohalla and other adjacent areas have similar complaints.

He urged authorities to take necessary measures to ensurereliable public transport remains available on all routes.
