NIT gets approval for ‘mega’ Boys Hostel

National Institute of Technology (NIT) on Thursday said it has got permission for construction of Boys Hostel at the campus here.

A statement said the Rs 85 core project, G+3 700-seater, mega hostel was being funded by Higher Education Funding Agency (HEFA).

   

“The project is being executed by Central Public Works Department (CPWD) under the supervision of Dean, Planning and Development, NIT Srinagar,” said the statement.

It said the Institute currently provides accommodation to around 2,100 students. “Due to the increased intake in the past few years, there was an acute shortage of accommodation for the students. With this approval, the long pending demand of the students will be met and will go a long way in providing comfortable stay for the students in the campus,” said the statement.
