Director General Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh who also holds the charge of Director General Prisons on Wednesday said that police does not plan to shift Srinagar Central jail to any other place, however he maintained that a proposal has been sent to the government for construction of a new jail which was damaged recently.
“There is no plan or proposal to shift the Srinagar CentralJail to any other place within or outside Srinagar city but a proposal has beensent to the government for construction of a new jail in view of the damagecaused to the jail building during the recent violence by jail inmates,”DGP told local news agency KNS.
“The building was decades old and was damaged in the violence,” he said.
