Peerzada Hafizullah on Monday assumed charge as commissioner Srinagar municipal corporation (SMC).
On the occasion, he held an introductory meeting with all senior and unit officers of SMC.
SMC media incharge Masrat Yusuf in a statement said new SMC commissioner discussed core issues of the Corporation which included street lighting, sanitation and other allied functions.
“The commissioner passed on directions that various steps need to be taken up for further improvement of solid waste management, drainage and sewerage system besides beautification of Srinagar city,” the statement said.
The statement said that during the meeting, Haffizullah gave clear cut directions to all the ward officers and enforcement officers to conduct regular site visits and make sure that all the building activities are taken up as per sanctioned permissions and any deviation and encroachment should be dealt with under the course of law.
SMC employees union president Maqbool Malik while welcoming the new commissioner extended support on behalf of municipal officers and officials present in the meeting, the statement added.
