Pellet victims stage protest

Pellet victims on Saturday staged a silent protest to highlight their hardships in absence of support from general public, NGOs and other organisations.

Scores of pellet victims under the banner of pellet victim’s welfare trust (PVWT) assembled at Press Enclave and staged silent protest here, seeking support from general public and other organizations for their treatment.

They appealed people of Kashmir for their “support and care for their treatment. The victims alleged that some people and NGOs are minting money collected for their treatment.

“There is perception among people that we receive help from government. This is not true. We don’t receive any aid from the government. A couple of pellet victims have been offered government jobs while our number is more than 1200,” they said. The pellet victims appealed people to support them so that they get proper treatment.
