Scores of PHE daily wagers on Monday staged protest demanding release of pending wages ahead of Eid.
The protesting daily wagers from different districts ofKashmir assembled at Pratap Park under the banner of ‘PHE joint employees association’ demandingrelease of pending wages for past 20 months.
“Governor had made several recommendations related to wagesand a committee was asked to submit a report. We want that report to be madepublic so that our issues will be settled once for all. We cannot spend ourlife protesting on roads,” said Sajad Ahmed Parry, president of theassociation.
“At a time when whole Kashmir is busy in Eid preparations,we are on roads. Don’t our children deserve to celebrate Eid”?,” he asked.
The protesting dailywagers which include PHE land owners and ITI workers said that other than wagestheir demands of formulating a proper regularization policy is also pending .
“Last month our school-going children also joined ourprotest as we are unable to pay their fee. Authorities other than makingpromises are doing nothing. We are unable to feed our families in this holymonth of Ramadan,” they said.
Later these daily wagers held a protest march at ResidencyRoad.
