Plantation drive held at SKIMS

World plantation day was commemorated today at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in collaboration with urban forests division

A mega plantation drive was kick-started by director SKIMS,Prof Omar Javed Shah and Irfan Ali Shah conservator forests (Srinagar division)at SKIMS campus in presence of officials from SKIMS and forest department.

   

On the occasion, various saplings were planted in the campusand the stakeholders unanimously stressed for use of localized resources andconservation of surroundings as green spots.

Director SKIMS thanked conservator of forests for collaboration and cooperation of his department and also appreciated the department of landscape SKIMS for conducting the event.

He said forests and trees are valuable and this green wealth needed to be used judiciously. He underscored the importance of herbal garden of medicinal plants for use in relevant diseases at SKIMS which will benefit the patients.

Irfan Ali Shah lauded SKIMS for the initiative saying themedical institute is a top priority of forest department to be developed as agreen spot within decade. He further said the forest department will work intandem with SKIMS in a regulated manner after signing MoU and assured fullsupport of his department.

Additional director SKIMS was also present on the occasionapprised about the nursery of medicinal plants in the state and the varietywhich can be tapped for its medicinal value.
