Police detain JKLF chief Yasin Malik during protest march in Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik was detained on Wednesday after he took out a protest march to demand release of political prisoners.

An eye witness said that Malik was detained soon after he took out a march outside his Abi Guzar office along with scores of his supporters.

Malik, according to an official, was lodged at Kothibagh police station after his detention.

Joint Resistance Leadership – an amalgam of separatist outfits – has been staging protests to demand release of Kashmiri political prisoners detained in and outside the state.

Before his detention, Malik while talking to the reporters said some prisoners have spent over two decades in various jails. “They should be released,” he demanded.
