Police set up help-lines for senior citizens

Police have taken an initiative to reach out to senior citizens here, who do not have anyone to support.

A statement said keeping in view the emerging situationemerging from COVID19 pandemic and the lockdown, large number of seniorcitizens must be facing difficulties in meeting out their basic needs.

   

To reach to such senior citizens, Srinagar police havelaunched the help-lines and DySP DAR Srinagar has been appointed as nodalofficer for Srinagar.

The senior citizens can contact on following numbers forhelp: 01942477100 (DPL Srinagar), 9419000453 (DySP DAR Srinagar) and 9697452268(LO DPL Srinagar).

Meanwhile, police distributed food and other essentialsamong needy people in the district

A separate statement said police, in collaboration with NGO,Murawat, distributed food items to the destitute families at Shaheed Gunj andShergarhi areas amid the COVID19 lockdown.

The statement said police teams from local police unitsreached to the needy people especially non-local residents and distributedessentials among them.

Besides, police said it ensured proper social distancingnear ATMs in order to minimise chances of spreading of coronavirus infection.

“People were made aware to take precautions to fightcoronavirus pandemic and their co-operation was sought to follow the guidelinesas provided by government,” said the statement.
