Power Sector Engineers and Employees of Jammu & Kashmir stage protest here against the government’s move to privatize the power sector.
The protest was held under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Power Engineers and Employees Coordination Committee (JKPEECC) in support of call given by National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) and All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF).
The protest was held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The protestors demanded scrapping of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2020 aimed for the privatization of electricity.
“The JKPEECC vehemently criticises the approach of the Government ventilated through the proposed anti-people electricity legislation as well as privatization proposal with the clear objective of snatching away the right of access to electricity,” JKPEECC said in a statement.
