Restrictions across Srinagar till March 31: DM

As a precautionary measure aimed at preventing spread of the coronavirus infection the District Magistrate, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has ordered imposition of restrictions across Srinagar up to March 31.

The order directs that all kinds of business establishmentswill remain closed and bans all kinds of assembly of more than 3 persons from 8pm tonight to 6 pm on March 31.

   

The order states that essential services as notified videJ&K government order number 60-FCS&CA of 2020 dated 22.03.2020 will beexempted from the restrictions.

Government officials of essential services departments andthose assigned on duties related to efforts for containment of spread ofcoronavirus infection are also exempted from the restrictions.

Print and electronic media organisations including FM radiostations and cremations and funerals will also be exempted.

Concerned agencies have been directed to ensure strictenforcement  of restrictions as orderedacross the district.

The order issued under Section 144 of CrPC states that thedecision to impose restrictions has been taken as a preventive measure and isaimed at preventing spread of the coronavirus infection.

Dr Shahid appealed to the general public to cooperate withthe administration and ensure strict adherence to the order. He said violationof the order would constitute criminal offence and attract strict action underSection 188 of IPC.

He said the district administration has put in place amechanism to ensure uninterrupted provision and supply and delivery ofessential services to the public. He also said that a proper grievanceredressal mechanism is in place to ensure quick redress of concerns.
