Rose Avenue residents complain of power mess

Although they had assured to shift some load from the area, no action has been taken so far putting the consumers to immense trouble.

The Rose Avenue Colony near Police Headquarters, Peerbagh is facing acute power crisis due to pestering low voltage in the area. They have demanded installation of a dedicated transformer for the area.

The inhabitants have expressed strong resentment over the failure of the Power Development Department (PDD) to check low voltage problem in the area.

The aggrieved residents told Greater Kashmir that the area gets between 10 to 20 volts power input causing extensive damage to electric appliances. They said the matter was brought into the notice of the PDD authorities on several occasions.

“Although they had assured to shift some load from the area, no action has been taken so far putting the consumers to immense trouble,” complained Parvaiz Ahmad, a resident of the colony.

He said there are reports that the local PDD staff has put massive commercial load on the transmission line supplying electricity to the area, resulting in pesky and frequent dip in the voltage.

The locals have demanded installation of a dedicated transformer for the Colony to improve the voltage in the area.

“Due to low voltage our valuable electronic gadgets have been damaged. We make a fervent appeal to the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Chief Engineer PDD to look into the matter,” they said.
