Seminar on 'Values of Karbala' held at KU

Kashmir University’s Department of Students Welfare organised a seminar here on Tuesday to pay respects and homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and other martyrs of Karbala.

During the day-long seminar, presided over by vice-chancellor Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, several eminent speakers underscored that the  sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) at Karbala is a glorious page of the Islamic history which shall always remain a source of inspiration for all those who stand against tyranny and injustice.

The speakers included Prof Andrabi; Justice (retired) Bashir Ahmad Kirmani, member State Accountability Commission; Ghulam Ali Gulzar; Aga Syed Hadi Al Moosvi Al Safvi; Dean Students Welfare Prof GN Khaki and Deputy Director DIQA, Showket Shafi.

In  his presidential remarks, Prof Andrabi said that the message of Karbala is as relevant today as was in the past and shall continue to be so for all times to come.

“However, we shall never be able to realise the real message of Karbala unless and until we do not overcome differences,” he said.

Justice Kirmani said: “We need to imbibe those principles and values practically in our lives for which Imam Hussain (AS) and his family sacrificed their lives.”
