Shab-e-Meraj Friday following|Devotees throng Dargah for glimpse of holy relic

Thousands of devotees from across Kashmir Friday thronged Dargah Hazratbal shrine here to have glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on Friday following Shab-e-Meraj.

Devotees visited the shrine throughout the day to offerprayers and have glimpse of the holy relic which was displayed after everycongregational prayer. The attendance was highest at afternoon prayers. .

   

Emotional scenes were witnessed during the display of theholy relic as devotees recited verses from holy Quran, seeking blessings fromAllah.

Various roads and streets leading to the shrine weredecorated and markets in Hazratbal wore a festive look. Devotees on theirreturn from shrine  purchased itemsincluding clay-made utensils which are especially available at Hazratbalmarket.

Special arrangements were put in place by Traffic Police forsmooth movement of people to and from the shrine. Besides private and publictransport, state road transport corporation (SRTC) had made arrangements forcarrying devotees.

National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Fridayoffered Friday congregational prayers at Asaar e Sharief Hazratbal Dargah. In astatement, NC spokesperson said he prayed for peace and prosperity to the stateof Jammu and Kashmir. Dr Farooq Abdullah while paying obeisance at the shrineparticipated in the Majlis of Durood o Azkaar and participated in the Shab eMehraj observance the other day.

Divisional administration had made arrangements of securityand other necessary facilities. Prior to Friday prayers, vice chairman J&KMuslim Wakf Board GR Sufi, appealed people to protect the Wakf properties fromencroachments in their respective areas.

Motor vehicles department had made available vehiclesincluding big and mini-buses to ferry devotees to Hazratbal. The vehicles pliedtill late in the evening.

Special congregational prayers were also organized at JenabSahab Soura, Asar-e-Sharif Shahri Kalashpora, Lal Bazar, Khanqah-e-Maula,Ziarat Hazrat Dastgeer Sahab (RA), Syed Yaqoob Sahab (RA) Sonwar, KhawajaNaqshband Sahab (RA) and Ziarat Makhdoom Sahib (RA).

Special prayers were also held at Masjids and shrines inIslamabad (Anantnag) mainly at Jamia Masjid Reshi Sahab, Khiram Sirhama, KabaMarg, Dooru and Seer Hamdan.
