SOURA IN MESS: Locals to file PIL

However, the growing number of commercial establishments in the area has become a cause of inconvenience for local populace, with residents fuming against enforcement squads.

Rampant Master Plan violations in Soura mock at the claims of authorities that illegal constructions were not being allowed.

The 90 Feet road, the Nammath  and areas adjacent to SKIMS are witnessing unabated illegal constructions, mostly  multi-storied complexes and shops. “SMC field staff instead of acting as deterrent has become a facilitator in these violations,” the locals said.

As per Master Plan, any construction meant for commercial purposes in notified residential areas are not permitted and even Building Operation Control Authority (BOCA) cannot grant permission for such construction.

However, the growing number of commercial establishments in the area has become a cause of inconvenience for local populace, with residents fuming against enforcement squads.

You can even construct commercial complex on road if you pay bribe to SMC officials. There is loot going on, SMC officials particularly local ward staff are neck deep in corruption and allowing commercialization of residential area without any consideration of duties for which they are paid hefty salaries out of tax payers contribution,” said residents of Soura mulling to move High Court to file PIL.

“It is pity that some officials of SMC for quick bucks are ready to degrade the social structure of an area by allowing commercial places to creep in the housing colonies,” they said.

The residents of Soura urged Governor to personally intervene in the matter.
