Traders fined Rs 2.32 lakh for selling unsafe food

Food Safety Organization (FSO) on Monday said that it has imposed a a fine of Rs 2.32 lakh on various erring traders for selling unsafe food.

According to a statement, prosecutions were sanctioned underFood Safety & Standards Act, 2006 Rules and Regulations, 2011, against somefood business operators of the state for selling, manufacturing, storing,distributing articles of food which have been declared as unsafe by the variousFood Testing Laboratories.

   

The statement further said that the organization has starteda special drive for checking quality of food items and sanitary and hygienicconditions of the food establishments providing food to the in-patients,attendants in different hospitals and employees of the move offices andconsumers in general.
