The Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department has intensified market checking in the City and issued a fresh rate list for fruits and vegetable sellers, Director CAPD, G N War said in a handout.
He said they have established special market checking squads. “The squads have intensified its activities and since yesterday, we have recovered Rs 6040 fine from defaulters,” he said.
He asked shopkeepers and vendors to sell commodities strictly according to the rate issued by the CAPD. “Otherwise action would be taken,” he warned.
Meanwhile, consumers appealed Director CAPD to implement mutton prices in City markets pleading that the mutton sellers often sell the lot at exhorbitant prices.
