Undergraduate students from different colleges who had applied for re-evaluation of some papers in 5th and 6th semester on Thursday feared that delay in completion of process by Kashmir University authorities could cost the upcoming academic session.
Talking to Greater Kashmir the students said they were aspiring for admission in post graduation (PG) courses offered by the varsity. “But the continued delay could prove detrimental for our future,” said a student.
Last month the KU authorities declared result of combined 5th and 6th semester exams. At least 500 students had failed to qualify in one or two subjects.
Most of these students had obtained Xerox copy of their answer scripts which had exposed “flaws” in evaluation process.
The evaluators had either left some questions unevaluated or “committed mistakes” while awarding aggregate marks in particular subjects.
Later, the students applied for re-evaluation of their answer scripts. But two weeks on the varsity is yet to declare the results.
This delay has put students in a precarious position as they are not eligible for PG admission though they had been provisionally allowed to sit in the entrance tests and most of them had qualified it.
“We are bearing brunt of laxity on part of authorities,” said Ishrat (not her real name), a student from Budgam, who has qualified the PG test
The varsity authorities were however yet to get the papers re-evaluated with controller examination, Prof Farooq Ahmad Mir saying they have started process to “trace out” the answer scripts of the students who had applied for reevaluation.
Director admission KU Prof Irshad Nawchu said the students whose reevaluation result was awaited would be considered for admission to PG courses only if their result was declared by 20 October.
