Panic has gripped Hari Sing High Street market following repeated threats to a prominent jeweler by some unidentified persons who even ransacked his workshop.
Tufail Ahmed Baba of Royal Jewelers, a leading jewelry shop said some unidentified people ransacked workshop near his shop and even roughed up workers in the evening hours when he had left for home.
“A day before that some persons came to my shop and threatened me dire consequences but didn’t reveal their identity nor I know them,” he said adding “Initially I took it lightly but once the threat was repeated the very next day I got alert.”
Baba fears threat to his life and property. Police Station Shaheed Gunj has lodged a complaint in this regard. Meanwhile the area traders appealed the Senior Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar and the SP south Shridhar Patil to personally look into the matter.
“The incident has unleashed a reign of insecurity among us and police must seriously look into the matter,” they said.
