Urs Shah-e-Hamdan (RA) observed with fervor

Urs of Hazat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA), popularly known as Shah-e-Hamdan and Amir-e-Kabir, was Saturday observed with religious fervor.

Largest congregation was held at Khanqah-e-Moula in Downtown Srinagar. The devotees during the Urs prayed for peace and prosperity of state and sought blessings from the Almighty. The annual Urs of Shah-e-Hamdan is being observed on 6th Zil-Hijjah of Islamic calendar.

   

Thousands of devotees including men, women, children and the elderly thronged the shrine throughout the day. The largest gathering at shrine was witnessed during  Zuhr  prayers when around 10,000 people gathered to offer congregational prayers.

The devotees recited Quranic verses, followed by ‘Duaiya Majlis’. Night long prayers were also offered by devotees preceding night. 

On the occasion, Mirwaiz Riyaz Hamdani patron J&K Jamait-e-Hamdani in his sermon shed light on the life of Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA). He said that the teachings of Shah-e-Hamdan (RA) shall always remain alive. “Amir-e-Kabir (RA) was instrumental in spreading Islam in Kashmir and had a major hand in shaping the culture of the Kashmir. He also introduced famed handicraft skills for which Kashmir is known all over the world,” Mirwaiz Riyaz Hamdani added.  

Meanwhile, the Urs of Shah Hamdhan (RA) was also observed with religious fervour at Khankah Faizpanah Tral, Jinab Sahab Soura, Aasar Sharif Kalashpora, Kabamarg and Khiram Sirhama in Anantnag, Dooru Seer Hamdan, Aham Sharif Bandipora, Budgam, Kupwara, Pulwama and Bandipora. The Urs was also observed at Khanqah Moula Sopore. Authorities had made special arrangements for the devotees.
