Workshop on FFR-RFP conducted in KMI

A workshop on FFR and RFR technology was conducted at Khyber Medical Institute (KMI) here today.

In a statement, KMI spokesperson said five patients underwent this procedure. “Three patients had positive FFR and received stents where two had negative and were left alone on drug therapy,” it said.

The workshop was conducted by Dr Syed Maqbool along with cathlab team Ulfat,Hameem and Sarwar. Intensive care backup was provided by Dr Showkat Shah

“Angiography is a luminogram and many a times it may be difficult to decide on simple angiography whether a blockage needs stenting or not,

Infact at times it may be misleading. A new technology known as FFR/RFR which through a pressure wire inside the coronary artery measures pressure gradient across the blockage and tells us whether the said blockage needs stenting or it can be left alone on drug therapy. This technology is simple and very useful and saves many patients from stenting,” the statement said.
