NSS units of Islamia College of Science and Commerce here in collaboration with Envo Saviours Tech Pvt Ltd and SMC Srinagar organized a one-day sensitization programme cum workshop on role of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities in scientific solid waste management at community hall Meerak Shah colony Habak.
The workshop was attended by students from NSS wing Islamia College and municipal staff of Hazratbal ward.
Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat, RTI and social activist deliberated at length on the importance of source segregation in waste management. Mudasir Banday, chief sanitation officer, SMC spoke about the role of IEC in scientific waste management and challenges faced by SMC in keeping the city clean. Shahid Nazir, project manager, Envo Saviours encouraged the NSS volunteers to spread awareness about proper disposal of waste. NSS officers Sajad Sarwar, Bhat Rehana and Mudasir Makdoomi also stressed on the growing need of Waste Management.
