Yatoo Mohalla Shivpora inhabitants resent garbage mounds

Residents of Shivpora Sunday have urged Badamibagh Cantonment Board to remove the heaps of garbage and debris at Bund side of Yatoo Mohalla.

Locals said that the garbage debris is lying at Yatoo Mohalla from 2014. “People started repairing and rebuilding of residential houses after flood water receded in 2014. The debris of damaged houses is still lying in the area,” said Abdul Salam, chairman local Masjid Committee.

He added that the locals have left debris at Yatoo Mohalla near bank so that authorities can lift it easily.

Seconding him, another local Muhammad Abbas said that the huge quantity of garbage also lies with debris.

“We have been appealing Cantonment Board authorities from past three years to remove it. However, our pleas have fallen on deaf ears,” he added.

Abdur Rashid, another local said that mounds of debris and garbage have become hub for stray dogs, posing risks of dog bites to locals.

The locals appealed Cantonment Board higher ups to intervene personally in the matter and direct concerned officials to remove debris and garbage from the locality without any further delay.
