Zakura residents pool money to repair dilapidated road

Prompted by “casual approach” of authorities, residents of Syed Colony Zakura pooled money to repair dilapidated road in the area.    

The residents said that for past four years they moved frompillar to post to get dilapidated road in their area repaired.

   

“After authorities failed to repair the road, we pooledmoney to undertake repairs of the road,” said Gulzar Ahmed, president ofmohalla committee Syed Colony Zakura.

He said in absence of repairs, the road had developedpotholes making it difficult for people to walk on it. The residents laidgravel and sand on the dilapidated road and themselves repaired it.

“We don’t want any department to take credit and or anycontractor to draw bills for repairs. This is why we are highlighting roadrepairs by us,” Gulzar added.

Locals said that it has been more than decade since the roadwas macadamized. We only received assurances from authorities but they neverrepaired the road,” they said.
