LMD settles 2 consumer complaints

Legal Metrology Department has settled two consumer complaints through alternate consumer disputes redressal mechanism.

According to an official statement, a person has complainedabout a car dealership for not refunding the advance booking amount of Rs20,000. The complainant has cancelled his booking as the dealership failed toprovide the car with colour of his choice.

   

The department issued the notice to the management of theworkshop for unfair trade practice and within a period of 10 days, thecomplainant was refunded Rs 19,700, while Rs 300 were deducted as cancellationcharges.

In another instance, a woman was refunded Rs 2000 – advancepayment made for eye cataract surgery but the surgery was not conducted due tohealth issues of the complainant – after the intervention of the LMD.
