A soldier from the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry was abducted from his residence in Budgam district on Friday evening, officials said.
Muhammad Yaseen, a resident of Qazipora, Chadoora, waswhisked away by a group of gunmen at around 10 pm, they said.
Deputy inspector general of police, central Kashmir range, VK Birdi said three people believed to be militants barged into the house of JAKLIsolider Yaseen at Qazipora and whisked him away.
“This is all I can say at the moment,” he said.
A source said that Yaseen had gone to his home on leave.
A massive manhunt has been launched across the district tonab the unidentified gunmen behind the abduction, he said.
“All the police stations in the district have been asked tolaunch searches while all the entry and exit points to the district have beensealed,” the source said.
