The police launched a cordon-and-search operation across Kishtwar town on Friday after unidentified gunmen snatched AK-47 from a policeman posted with the deputy commissioner Kishtwar, officials said.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, deputy commissioner, Kishtwar,Angrez Singh Rana, said, “We have launched a CASO across Kishtwar town afterunidentified men fled with service weapon of my personal security officer(PSO), Daleep.”
Giving details, Rana said: “In late evening hours today,unidentified men barged into the rented accommodation of my PSO, where theysnatched his service weapon and fled away.”
The CASO was launched to catch the rifle-snatcher, he said.
“It seems militancy is on a rise again in the town,” the DC said.
