A sweeper of a private school was injured in a mysterious explosion in Haril area of north Kashmir’s Handwara sub-district.
The explosion occurred in the building of Hill View Public School when a sweeper identified as Reyaz Ahmad Ahanger (32) resident of Haril was cleaning the school building.
Soon after locals heard the sound of the blast they rushed towards the school building and found Reyaz in a pool of blood. He was immediately shifted to District Hospital Handwara where after preliminary treatment he was referred to Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar for advance treatment.
A police officer said that an investigation has been started to ascertain the cause of the blast.
“Prima facie it seems an old shell has exploded after being touched by the victim,” he added.
