J&K records 84 new COVID-19 cases

Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday recorded 84 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 1,25,547 even as no fresh coronavirus fatality was reported for the second consecutive day, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, 73 were from the Kashmir division and 11 from Jammu division, they said.

   

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of cases at 42 including 27 travellers.

While 11 districts did not report any fresh case, Jammu was the only other district to register double digit positive cases at 11.

The number of active cases in J&K is 657 while 1,22,939 patients have recovered so far, the officials said.

The COVID-19 death toll in J&K stands at 1951.

Meanwhile, India recorded 11,610 fresh COVID-19 cases and 100 more fatalities. With 11,610 fresh cases, India’s COVID-19 tally has climbed to 1,09,37,320, while the number of recoveries has surged to 1,06,44,858, union health ministry said.

The death toll due to the viral disease has gone up to 1,55,913 in the country with 100 more fatalities reported in a 24-hour period, the ministry said. The total number of global coronavirus cases has topped 109.4 million while the deaths have surged to more than 2.41 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
