2 youth booked under PSA in Pulwama

Two youth were booked under the Public Safety Act in Pulwama district on Friday for allegedly “disrupting the law and order”.

A police official said Nasir Rashid son of Abdul Rashid of Raj Pora and Ashiq Hussain Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar of Rohmoo village were sent to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu after PSA detention orders were approved by the district authorities. Both the detainees, according to the official, were arrested by the police a couple of weeks ago from their residences.

“They were involved in the activities which were inimical to peace and threat to law and order in the area,” the official added.

Police sources told Greater Kashmir that ahead of Parliamentary elections some more persons were expected to be booked in the area

As part of a massive crackdown on dissenters, which started with the detention of scores of Jamaat-e-Islami activists, the government on Thursday detained cleric and Jamiat-e-Ahlihadith vice-president Mushtaq Veeri and three Jamaat activists in Anantnag under the PSA.

On Wednesday night, government forces picked up 14 youth during overnight raids in Ratnipora village of Pulwama district. The police had said that the youth were detained for their alleged role in various stone pelting incidents and street protests.
