Admin order axing female poplar trees in Tral

The administration in Tral has ordered felling of all female poplar trees before onset of pollen season.

An order said in complianceto the directions of J&K High Court and higher authorities, the additionalDeputy Commissioner Pulwama SA Raina has asked all the executive magistrates todirect the field agencies to cut all the female Russian poplar trees, beforethe onset of the pollen season.

   

“The mass drive shouldfollow after extensive announcements through field agency in each village” theorder reads.

It says Russian poplar trees were biggest source of pollenallergy and keeping in view the Coronavirus threat, the spread of the poplarpollen could prove disastrous

The magistrates have been asked to liaison with forestofficers of Tral range and SHO Tral for technical assistance.

“In case of any non-cooperation from any person, actionunder law should be taken” reads the order.

The officers have been asked to send weekly reports to theadditional Deputy Commissioner.
