Advisors Ganai, Sharma review arrangements at Nunwan, Baltal base camps

Advisors to the Governor, Khursheed Ahmad Ganai and KK Sharma Friday visited Nunwan and Baltal base camps to take stock of arrangements being put in place for smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra.

At Baltal camp, ADDC Shafat Iqbal, who is also officiatingas Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal apprised the meeting chaired by the advisorsthrough a power point presentation regarding arrangements put in place bydepartments associated with Yatra.

   

Taking stock of installation of shelter sheds, Advisor Ganaidirected Tourism Department to personally inspect the sheds to have first-handappraisal of facilities.

Advisor Sharma directed the camp Director and otherfunctionaries to ensure effective sanitary arrangements in respect offunctioning of the toilet, bath units, clean bedding.

To keep check on portable water quality, the Chief EngineerPHE informed the meeting that the department has established water testinglaboratory at the Baltal base camp where water quality shall be checked on thedaily basis.

Both, the Advisors stressed all the Departments forup-gradation and improvement of the facilities besides synchronizing effortsfor providing all basic services to the pilgrims.

Later the Advisors visited Nunwan Base Camp to review thearrangements put in place for the Yatra.

They chaired a meeting wherein arrangements includingdrinking water facilities, power supply, healthcare, sanitation, food and supplies,firewood, issuance of permissions and other amenities for the annual pilgrimagewere threadbare reviewed.

The Advisors directed officers from line Departments tocomplete all arrangements before commencement of Yatra at all transit camps andhalting stations. They also sought action taken report on earlier directions.
