Northern army commander visits LoC

Accompanied by White Knight Corps commander, lieutenantgeneral Paramjit Singh, the northern commander’s Wednesday visit came asPakistan fired mortar shells across the LoC and a Pakistan fighter jet enteredIndian territory, they said in a statement.

During the visit, Singh was briefed by the commanders onground about the operational situation, prevailing security scenario andpreparedness of the army formations, the statement read.

   

He was also briefed on the actions taken to meet thechallenges of increased ceasefire violations through superior and aggressivedomination of LoC being exercised by the troops and defensive measures put inplace to thwart the nefarious designs of the adversary, the officials said.

Singh also interacted with the soldiers and complimentedthem for their “unwavering dedication to duty, selfless devotion and highstandard of professionalism.”

He was appreciative of the measures and standard operatingprocedures instituted by the units and formations in their area ofresponsibility to minimise the casualties due to cease fire violations andinfiltration bids, the officials said.
